A few weeks ago the crew from the “Today” Show on NBC shadowed Seth Allen, the Dean of Admission at Grinnell College in Iowa. Watch Mr. Allen as he visited two New York City public high schools, the Bronx High School of Science and DeWitt Clinton. The segment, which is something of a primer for students on such information sessions, was shown on “Today,” and can be viewed here.
One point not made on “Today” is that students need to be aware that attention from an admissions officer in sessions like these is no guarantee of acceptance. Schools like Grinnell will reject more applicants than they admit and can’t know this early in the admissions calendar what the pool of applicants will be like.
